Easter egg: what chocolate should you use

The chocolate used for this recipe is sold as “coated chocolate” or “to mold”. It is mainly available in party favors, although it is also sold in some supermarkets and even online. It comes in different varieties such as white, semi-sweet or with milk and in “bar” or “pepitas” presentations.

Easter egg: the step-by-step recipe

Ingredients:

  • Plastic molds to prepare eggs.
  • Chocolate of your choice.
  • Candies, chocolates, candies or a toy

Step by Step:

  • If the chocolate to be used is in “chips”, it is placed directly in a bowl. If, on the other hand, it is bar chocolate, it must be cut into pieces.
  • Place the chocolate in the bowl and melt it in a bain-marie. Stir the chocolate until melted. If it thickens, remove the bowl from the heat until it regains its liquidity.
  • With the melted chocolate, it is placed on the Easter egg mold, which is rotated and moved so that it is distributed and covers the entire surface. Once the mold is covered you can add more chocolate to make a thicker layer, but that is up to taste.
  • When the mold is covered with chocolate, place it in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes. Place it face down, on a piece of parchment paper.
  • Remove from the refrigerator and unmold, carefully.
  • Fill with sprinkles and whatever you have chosen.
  • Glue both surfaces of the egg. To do this, you can decorate the edges of each face with melted chocolate (the same one used to make the eggs). Join both parts and wait for it to dry.
  • Once both sides of the egg are fixed, it is time to decorate. You can stick candy (using melted chocolate as “glue”), nuts, sprinkles, white chocolate chips (if the egg is dark chocolate) or you can use a sleeve with melted chocolate to write a phrase or the name of the person to the one that is going to be given. As with the fillings, the options are multiple.
  • Last step: taste.
