Ten months in prison – that is the sentence against Kida Ramadan for repeatedly driving without a license. The actor is now trying to avert the prison sentence – with the help of a new criminal defense lawyer.
“4 Blocks” star Kida Khodr Ramadan continues to fight against going to prison. As already announced, the Berlin actor has filed an appeal against his sentence to ten months in prison for driving again without a license. But the public prosecutor’s office also wants to have the verdict of the Tiergarten district court of February 28th reviewed, as a court spokeswoman announced on Tuesday upon request. The prosecution had requested a total sentence of 14 months in prison.
Ramadan’s appeal is primarily about getting a suspended sentence. The court saw no chance of this because there was a lack of a favorable social prognosis. The 47-year-old already had a relevant criminal record when he committed the crime again and was on probation. In addition to the prison sentence, the court imposed a driver’s license ban for one year. Ramadan’s lawyer had requested a suspended sentence.
Penalty reprieve requested for Kida Ramadan
The actor had already been convicted as a traffic offender in February 2022. At that time there were 33 cases in which he was caught behind the wheel without a license. At that time too, he was sentenced to ten months in prison – although initially on probation. This was later revoked, so Ramadan should go to prison.
The public prosecutor’s office had already launched the summons for this. But Ramadan’s new defense attorney has requested a deferred sentence and a subsequent hearing to defend himself against the revocation of his probation. The district court has not yet decided on this.
In “4 Blocks” Ramadan played the head of a criminal clan of Arab origin in Berlin-Neukölln, which has to deal with murder, violence, drug deals, other gangsters and the LKA investigators. The award-winning series was his breakthrough as an actor. The seven-part ARD series “Testo” recently premiered, in which he is the main actor, co-author and co-director.
