New job for James Corden: appearances planned in London theaters

James Corden has a new engagement. In the summer he will appear in the play “The Constituent” in London’s West End.

His career started in London’s West End in the mid-1990s and he is now returning there. Actor, comedian and presenter James Corden (45) will be seen at London’s Old Vic Theater this summer. He took on the lead role in the play “The Constituent”.

Critical examination of politicians in general

, James Corden will be seen in the world premiere of Joe Penhall’s (b. 1967) “The Constituent” from June 13th to August 10th. The new play also stars BAFTA winner Anna Maxwell Martin (46), known for her roles in “Motherland”, “Line of Duty” and “Poppy Shakespeare”. Martin portrays a hard-working opposition backbencher whose ideals of public office are tested by the demands of a man in crisis, played by Corden.

Directed by the Old Vic’s artistic director and Olivier Award winner Matthew Warchus (57), “The Constituent” dissects politics, fear-mongering and the conflict between public service and personal safety. Author Joe Penhall said: “I began writing this piece four years ago amid growing antipathy towards elected politicians.”

Return to London with the family

Last year, London-born Corden returned to his old home of Great Britain with his wife Julia and their three children (born 2011, 2014, 2017) after many years in the USA. He had previously said goodbye to the US program “The Late Late Show”, which he hosted from 2015 to 2023.

James Corden rose to worldwide fame with his “Carpool Karaoke” performances, in which he sang in the car with the biggest music stars and other celebrities.
