UEFA had actually introduced a German singer, Kim Petras. Less than three months before the opening, another artist is now getting the chance.
Pop singer Leony (26) will sing the official song for the European Football Championship in the summer. The musician’s management confirmed a corresponding report from the “Bild” newspaper to the German Press Agency.
The US band OneRepublic (“Apologize”) and the Italian dance trio Meduza (“Bad Memories”) also take part in the song. The song has not yet been presented and the title is not yet known.
In December, the European football association UEFA presented the German singer Kim Petras (31, “Unholy”) as the interpreter of the European Championship song. According to the report, she canceled due to scheduling difficulties.
Leony, whose real name is Leonie Burger and comes from Upper Palatinate, has been in the charts for years with hits like “Faded Love”, “Raindrops” and “Remedy”. She sat on the jury for the 20th season of the RTL casting show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” in 2023.
