Diego Torres: “Milei’s war with the world of culture is unnecessary”

On the occasion of the promotion of his most recent album, “Better than yesterday”, Diego Torres He traveled to Spain and there he referred to the situation in the field of culture since the government of Javier Milei.

“This war (of President Javier Milei) is unnecessary”the musician and actor said in conversation with the EFE agency in Madrid, emphasizing that “the corrupt business of politics is not about supporting culture.”

Torres specifically cites the case of the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA), whose public funding has suffered a drastic reduction under these arguments.

“There are entities that finance themselves, like the INCAA, which is also our identity, our stories that project what Argentina is, and it seems to me that it is an unnecessary battle for this president,” he lamented.

Diego Torres on Javier Milei’s attacks on Lali Espósito

The musician and actor also referred to the confrontation that Milei has with Lali Espositosince she described the electoral victory of the current president as something “dangerous” and that the Argentine president accused her of living at the expense of the public treasury by participating in subsidized concerts, among other things.

“Precisely Lali has worked all her life in the private sector and not in the state, although he has done one or two festivals. It is ridiculous to say that and the figures paid are malicious. What all this does is polarize more,” he defended.

Torres, who defines himself as a person with “independent criteria,” rejected the “fights that make no sense” and that distract from what is important: achieving “a country with more equality and more opportunities, with a present but well-managed State, a private sector that invests under clear conditions and a stable economy, without inflation and with clear laws.”

I want to see hope in Argentina because I have nephews who really want to get ahead. But I also live with another side of me telling me that I have already seen this movie, that I already know how it ends and that is why one cannot be fooled, which does not mean that I am not committed to what is happening in my country,” he said.
