David Hasselhoff: German Museum auctions off his swimming trunks

“Baywatch” in Baden-Württemberg: A German museum has bought David Hasselhoff’s red cult swimming trunks and is now exhibiting them.

It is probably one of the most famous swimming trunks in the world: David Hasselhoff’s (71) red shorts from the cult series “Baywatch”. You can soon see the part in a museum in Germany. The BikiniARTmuseum in Bad Rappenau in Baden-Württemberg bought the original swimming trunks from the 1990s, signed by Hasselhoff, for $3,000.

“We have thus been able to acquire another top-class item for our museum, which also completes our Baywatch collection alongside Pamela Anderson’s original swimsuit,” museum director Marco Preißer is quoted as saying in a statement. Exhibits of great icons such as Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Amy Winehouse and Brigitte Bardot already hang in the museum.

Hasselhoff swimming trunks will only be exhibited in the museum from summer onwards

The museum bought the Hasselhoff swimming trunks on Wednesday evening (March 20) at an auction by the US auction house Heritage Auctions. However, the piece can only be seen from the summer: From July, the BikiniARTmuseum wants to show a large special Baywatch exhibition and then present the red cult swimming trunks for the first time.
