For Gianna Nannini, age doesn’t matter. “I don’t believe in age,” said the Italian singer.
For the Italian singer Gianna Nannini (“Bello e impossibile”), it’s okay to become a mother even in her mid-50s. “I don’t think I was too old because I don’t believe in age. It doesn’t matter to me,” said the 69-year-old, whose daughter was born in 2010, to the editorial network Germany (RND) in an interview. Nannini described it as “age-defying” when people talk about being too old to have a child. “It’s comparable to homophobia or racism.”
About her own daughter, who is now a teenager, she said: “My daughter has been independent for many years. At the moment I don’t see her very often because she is very independent and does her own thing.” She used to be very interested in her mother making music, but not anymore. Nannini had one of her biggest hits with her song for the 1990 Italian World Cup (“Un’estate italiana”). She will be 70 in June.
