Most of the Japanese families settled in José C Paz, Burzaco and The Silver and they dedicated themselves to developing flower greenhouses and nurseriesquickly consolidating themselves as the main producers of roses, tulips, yerberas and carnations in the country.

Colonia Urquizain the La Plata Party, became one of the largest Japanese colonies of the countrywhere today an eastern village remains that has become a true tourist attraction in the province of Buenos Aires.

It works on site Mizujoa 4-hectare property owned by the Sato family, who arrived from Japan in the 1970s. You can explore it on foot, come into contact with traditional elements of the Asian country, with nature and farm animals. It is only open on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

What to do in Mizujo, Colonia Urquiza

In Mizujo there are several activities to do, including:

  • Tour the nursery: It has a wide variety of flowers, bonsais, aromatics, orchids, cacti, succulents, and fruit plants. The place has very good prices and promotions, which is an excellent plan if you are thinking of decorating your balcony or garden. You can buy plants either individually or in bulk (in this case the sellers give you a wheelbarrow to transport them). The walk through the nursery can last an hour and you can ask the owners for advice at any time. They also sell seeds, soil, fertilizer and pots.
  • Walk through the traditional japanese garden: it has an artificial lake where there are koi fish (carps) of various species, red bridges and statues.
  • Visit the farm: It is full of animals such as llamas, donkeys, cows, rams and peacocks, among others. They can be fed.
  • Make a picnic inside the park: you can bring food for lunch in the extensive grounds, where children can also play on the children’s games. Fires are not allowed. There is also a dining room where you can eat or order typical Japanese food to take away.

How to get to Mizujo from CABA

For get to Mizujo from CABA You have to take the Buenos Aires-La Plata Highway to Hudson, and take Route 2. Continue until El Pato and then simply follow Route 36 until kilometer 48.5. The property is located between kilometers 460 and 472 of that route. Parking is free and is inside the property.
