Discovery, recently uploaded a successful musical based on the children’s literary classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory from the british Roald Dahl. The new movie is called Wonka and it is all the rage around the world: it premiered in theaters in December 2023 and came to streaming on March 8.
Unlike the remembered version of Tim Burtonin which Johnny Depp played the famous chocolatier, this new film installment moves away from the darkness of Wonka’s character and explores other resources of the comedy, fantasy and music.
This new adaptation comes from the director Paul King (Paddington) and features the amazing performance of Timothée Chalamet, who takes on the role of a different Wonka than the one we are used to. The film achieved a current collection of more than US$625 million, becoming one of the highest-grossing musicals in cinema.
What Wonka is about
The film tells the beginnings of the famous chocolatier in a story full of magic and adventure, set in 1934. Willy Wonka sets out on his journey to open your first chocolate store in Europe, facing adversity and unfair competition. It introduces innovations such as Hoverchocs, sweets that make those who consume them fly.
