King Charles’ nephew spoke on Australian TV about his state of mind after his cancer diagnosis. The monarch is frustrated that recovery is taking longer than desired.
With two shocking cancer diagnoses among high-ranking royals, there is currently a state of emergency at the British court. While Princess Kate only ended weeks of speculation about her health last Friday, King Charles spoke about his illness at the beginning of February. Now his nephew Peter Phillips gave an update on the monarch’s state of mind on Australian television.
Accordingly, Charles can hardly wait to get back to work. “He pushes his team and his doctors and nurses and always asks if he can do this or that,” said Phillips. However, Charles is in good spirits. “He is very pragmatic and understands that he has to really concentrate on himself for a while,” said the 46-year-old. His uncle was very frustrated that he couldn’t move on and do everything he wanted.

King Charles and Camilla want to travel again as quickly as possible
“The general message is that he obviously wants to get back to some sort of normality as quickly as possible. And that he’s probably frustrated that the recovery is taking a little longer than he would like,” explains Peter Phillips. He is the son of Charles’ sister Princess Anne and is currently 18th in line to the British throne. Phillips visited Australia as chairman of a local sporting charity event. He was unable to answer whether King Charles and Queen Camilla’s planned trip to Australia would take place this year. However, he assured that the two would love to travel again. “You obviously want to meet as many people as possible,” Phillips said.
Peter Phillips did not comment on Kate’s condition because the conversation was recorded before the emotional video in which Kate made her cancer diagnosis public. The exact cancer diagnoses of both the princess and the king are not known.
