New view of his mother
In the new episode of Hudson’s podcast “Sibling Revelry”, which he hosts together with his sister Kate Hudson (44), the 47-year-old reported that his view of his childhood had completely changed through coaching. He originally thought that during the week-long course he would mainly work on his relationship with his father Bill Hudson (74), who left the family early. His mother, on the other hand, was always the “constant in my life”; after all, he grew up with her. But then it turned out that his childhood at her side wasn’t as good as he thought for a long time. As a child, he always thought of her as a “great mother.” But she was often not there either. “She was working and traveling or she had new friends that I didn’t really like.” She was often absent, even though he needed her as a child without a father.
Through the trauma management course, he was also able to gain a new perspective on his father. He was never there, but if he saw him, they would have had a good time. “He gave me attention, we played football, we played basketball, we went to the beach, he taught me how to fish,” he recalled of the time he spent with the musician and actor. The coaching was “really a change of perspective for me”.
Understanding of his parents
However, he was able to forgive both parents for their behavior and learned to feel compassion. He noticed that they were simply repeating a lot of what “they went through with their parents.”
Oliver and Kate Hudson come from Goldie Hawn’s marriage to Bill Hudson, which lasted from 1976 to 1982. The separation took place in 1980. Until 1983, the actress raised the two children mostly alone. Then she met her long-term partner Kurt Russell (73). The couple never married, but had a son together, Wyatt (37).
