Actor Ben Affleck caused a stir with an interview in which he indirectly blamed his ex-wife Jennifer Garner for his alcohol addiction. “One reason I started drinking in the first place was because I felt trapped in my marriage. If we hadn’t broken up, we would probably have given each other’s throats and I would probably still be drinking”said the 49-year-old on Howard Stern’s radio show. After that, rumors made the rounds that Affleck’s partner Jennifer Lopez was pissed off about these statements. The singer has now denied that.
“This story is just not true. I don’t feel like that. I couldn’t have more respect for Ben as a father, as a parent, and as a person”the 52-year-old told the US magazine “People”. She would also get along great with Jennifer Garner, with whom Ben Affleck was married from 2005 to 2018.

The actor himself now rowed back and said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s US talk show that his statements had been completely taken out of context. He had an in-depth conversation with Howard Stern that lasted two hours. “We talked about my family, alcohol problems, and how things are going with my ex-wife. It was about how much we respect each other and how we look after our children together. But that conversation has been completely turned into its opposite”said Affleck. “They made a terrible, insensitive guy out of me. But when it comes to my children, I have to draw a line. It’s just not true. I’m just the opposite of that. I would never want my kids to think I was saying something bad about their mother”Affleck explained.
He and Garner have three children together, aged nine, twelve and 16. Because of his children, he hesitated to revive his old love with Jennifer Lopez. “My responsibility to my children is the highest responsibility. I don’t want to do anything that could be painful or destructive to them if I can prevent it”Affleck said in an interview with Howard Stern.
