Fritz Wepper: Shortly before his death he was in the circus

TV star Fritz Wepper (1941-2024) apparently went on a trip with his family shortly before his death. . The actor, who died on Monday (March 25th), attended a circus performance with his wife Susanne Kellermann (49), daughter Filippa (12) and his “For Heaven’s Sake” colleague Janina Hartwig (62). Hartwig is the godmother of “The Wish Car Munich/Upper Bavaria”, which fulfills “the last wishes of the heart”.

“The Circus Krone meant a world to him”

According to “Bild”, Hartwig, Wepper and his family watched part of the afternoon performance together on Friday at Munich’s Circus Krone. Susanne Kellermann explained to the newspaper: “It was Janina’s idea. We all picked Fritz up together. He had been incredibly looking forward to it for days. The Circus Krone meant a world to him. He was there for the first time when he was five years old.”

On his last visit, the actor was greeted by circus directors Jana Mandana Lacey Krone (45) and Martin Lacey Jr. (46) received personally, as his widow further revealed: “Martin brought a few wrapped hairs from Fritz’s godfather Elvis. It was incredibly warm what they came up with for Fritz. I couldn’t and didn’t want to imagine that would be the last time.”

Fritz Wepper has been a star since the 1950s

Fritz Wepper died on Monday morning in a hospice at the age of 82. After severe sepsis, the former “Derrick” star was in the facility in Upper Bavaria. The death of his brother had already bothered him: the actor Elmar Wepper (1944-2023) died at the end of October 2023 at the age of 79.

Fritz Wepper had been known as an actor since the 1950s. He celebrated great successes with the series “Derrick”, “For Heaven’s Sake” and the crime series “Murder in the Best Company”, among others.
