The palace has already announced that King Charles will take part in the traditional Easter service despite his cancer. But there will be special royal treatment and other family members won’t even bother.
In February the palace announced: King Charles III. suffers from cancer. During a prostate operation, doctors discovered the changed cells, but what form of cancer the king has is not known. Since then, his wife, Queen Camilla, has represented the monarch at official appointments. But Charles doesn’t want to miss the traditional Easter service.
The Royal Family usually appears at church services at Easter and Christmas, and fans wait for hours in front of the church to catch a glimpse of the members of the British royal family. Easter traditionally takes place at Windsor Castle and Christmas at Sandringham.
King Charles wants to show his presence, William and Kate will not appear
This year, however, the fans will look upside down. Kensington Palace has already officially announced that Prince William and his wife Kate, who also has cancer, as well as their three children George, Charlotte and Louis will not be part of the service this year. Princess Kate made it public about a week ago that she also had cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy. The children are currently on Easter break and she would like to protect their parents from the public at the moment.
In addition to the Prince and Princess of Wales, William’s cousin, Zara Tindall, her husband and their children will also not take part in the Easter service. She will take part in a horse riding event and is therefore unable to attend.
So that the event doesn’t turn out too dismal, the sick king comes. However, according to the news portal “The Telegraph”, this should enter the church through a back entrance, the Galilee Porch. It is said that there will only be one “Easter Lite” and that the head of the British Crown will not take part in a joint lunch. Aside from the cancellations by the British royals, the Easter service will also include fewer guests than usual in order to keep the risk of infection for the king low. The cancer treatment has left his immune system vulnerable and weakened, which is why King Charles III is said to be also sitting in isolation in church. Presumably only his wife Camilla will be allowed to be near him.
