Taylor Swift is new to Forbes’ list of celebrity billionaires. But number one can only laugh at her fortune.
In October 2023, Taylor Swift (34)’s total assets exceeded the billion mark. Consequently, the singer and songwriter is now a new addition to the list of celebrity billionaires.
With an estimated fortune of 1.1 billion US dollars – around 1.02 billion euros – Swift only makes it to number 14 on the list. Just ahead of her are TV producer Dick Wolf (77, “Law & Order”) and ex-basketball player Earvin “Magic” Johnson (64) with $1.2 billion each. Like Taylor Swift, they are both new to the exclusive club. The still active basketball player LeBron James (39) also owns 1.2 billion.
First place for a director who hasn’t made a film in over 20 years
The top ten on the Forbes list are golfer Tiger Woods (1.3 billion), singer Rihanna (1.4 billion), entertainer Tyler Perry (1.4 billion), and “The Lord of the Rings” director Peter Jackson (1.5 billion), reality star Kim Kardashian (1.7 billion), rapper Jay-Z (2.5 billion) and presenter Oprah Winfrey (2.8 billion).
Third place goes to Michael Jordan (3.2 billion), the third basketball player on the list. In second place is director and producer Steven Spielberg (4.8 billion). Number one is a colleague who made his last film as a director in 2005: George Lucas (79) is the richest person on the list with a fortune of $5.5 billion. He made a large part of it by selling his production company Lucasfilm to Disney.
This makes Taylor Swift an exception
In general: The listed celebrities did not make their fortune through their actual core business, but mainly through advertising deals, company investments or sales of their companies. With one exception: Taylor Swift. She is said to have earned her wealth exclusively through her music, with income from recordings, streams and tours.
According to Forbes, the richest person in the world can only smile wearily at the figures of the entertainment greats. The entrepreneur Bernard Arnault (75) is said to have around $233 billion thanks, among other things, to the luxury giant LVMH.
