Neil Patrick Harris is celebrating a special anniversary: 20 years ago he had his first date with his spouse David.
US actor Neil Patrick Harris (50) has been married to his colleague David Burtka (48) for almost ten years. The two had their first date around a decade earlier. Harris and Burtka celebrated the very special anniversary on Instagram.
“Our first date was 20 years ago today,” Harris wrote on April 1, looking back over the past two decades. “Man, how time has flown, and yet we have had so many adventures and created so many remarkable memories. If the next 7,300 days are anything like the previous ones, I will be absolutely thrilled.” With a wink he added: “Happy anniversary, David. I love you unconditionally, most of the time.”

Burtka also celebrated the anniversary and the . “Ever since we decided to embark on this incredible journey together, my dreams have come true. Today marks 20 years since our first date and I can’t imagine a better life,” he wrote. Burtka loves his partner with all his heart. But he also couldn’t resist a little jab: “I deserve a damn medal… and so do you.”
Neil Patrick Harris is known, among other things, for the role of Barney Stinson on the popular sitcom “How I Met Your Mother”. The couple has had a son and a daughter since October 2010. The fraternal twins were born by a surrogate mother. In September 2014, Harris and Burtka married in Italy.
