“Bauer sucht Frau” star Anna Heiser was sexually harassed years ago. Only her husband Gerald was able to help her get over it.
“Bauer sucht Frau” star Anna Heiser (33) vents her heart and shares with her 230,000 friends a story that happened years ago but still weighed on her for a long time. The event that she “tried to repress for years” happened to the then 24-year-old “on a hot summer day” on the “bus” on the way to the “internship in Essen Heisingen,” as she writes in her post.
Anna Heiser: “I felt guilty”
“Like on many hot days, I was wearing shorts on this one too. I was sitting by the window, in one of the seats facing the direction of travel. Deep in thought, I didn’t even notice as I was a corpulent man, probably in his mid-40s “, placed himself on the seat next to me. I didn’t notice it until I felt his big, sweaty hand on my thigh. He didn’t take it away. My heart was beating like crazy,” she describes the sexual harassment.
She didn’t defend herself, didn’t scream, she was “paralyzed.” Instead, she endured it until he got off at a stop. The “feeling of shame” followed her for years afterwards – and so did the self-blame. “I felt guilty – because I wore shorts and especially because I didn’t defend myself,” admits Anna Heiser. She didn’t tell anyone about it. “Nobody until I met Gerald and confided it to him after a few years,” reveals the Namibian-by-choice.
Gerald Heiser: “It’s not your fault”
Her husband then hugged her and said an important sentence: “It’s not your fault.” This sentence from his mouth freed her, says the mother of two. After that she believed it. “It wasn’t my fault.”
She now wants to tell Gerald’s healing sentence “to everyone who has had something similar happen to them: YOU ARE NOT TO FAULT!”, she concludes her post.

The couple met in 2017 during the 13th season of the dome show “Bauer sucht Frau” (RTL). Gerald Heiser was the first participant in the show’s history from Africa. In the final he chose Anna. The wedding followed in Poland in 2018 and again a few weeks later in his home country of Namibia.
The couple now lives on the Namibian farm with two children. Son Leon was born at the end of January 2021, daughter Alina at the end of November 2022.
