Diagonale: How Upper Austria’s filmmakers won in Graz

It is a showcase for the best performances in Austrian film: the Grazer Diagonale. Today (Monday) the jury’s central film and screenplay prizes were awarded, with the best feature film (20,000 euros) being “The Anxious Road User” (director: Martha Mecho) and “Anqua” by Helin Celik as the best documentary film (20,000 euros). were awarded. Styria also became a stage for filmmakers from Upper Austria, who won a total of seven prizes.

  • Best Actress: The Paschinger Birgit Minichmayr was awarded for her portrayal of the great painter Maria Lassnig in “Sleeping with a Tiger”, the film (director: Anja Salomonowitz) opens on Friday. Best Actor was Voodoo Jürgens for “Rickerl”.
  • Best visual design in a feature film (3000 euros): camerawoman Nora Einwaller from Wels for “Asche” (director: Elena Wolff). “Asche” takes us into the Linz art scene with critical undertones.
