“Horizon”, Kevin Costner’s new western, will have its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival

Warner Bros. will release the first of the two Horizon films in June, with the second coming two months later in August.

The highly anticipated western Kevin Costner, “Horizon: An American Saga”will be screened out of competition in the Cannes Film Festival. The film will screen on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the festival, joining already announced titles including the Mad Max movie, “Furious”.

“I would like to thank the Cannes Film Festival for including my film ‘Horizon, An American Saga’ in this year’s selection,” Costner said in a statement. “It’s been 20 years since I had the pleasure of being on the Croisette. I have been waiting for the right time to return and I am proud to say that this moment has arrived. ‘Horizon, An American Saga’ is a story that began 35 years ago, and I can’t think of a better place than Cannes to reveal to the world the result of such a wonderful adventure. The French have always supported cinema and deeply believed in cinema. Just as I deeply believe in my film.”

What is known about “Horizon”

Costner directs and stars in Horizon, alongside a cast that includes Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Michael Rooker, Danny Huston, Luke Wilson, Isabelle Fuhrman, Jeff Fahey, Will Patton, Tatanka Means, Owen Crow Shoe, Ella. Hunt and Jamie Campbell Bower.

The plot spans the four years of the Civil War and, according to the official logline, “explores the appeal of the Old West and how it was won (and lost) through the blood, sweat and tears of many.”

Warner Bros. will release the first of the two “Horizon” films in June, with the second coming out two months later in August.
