Poll: Princess Kate is the most popular member of the Royal Family

With her cancer diagnosis, Princess Kate silenced the rumors about her absence. Now it turns out that your public reputation has increased.

Princess Kate is the most popular member of the British Royal Family, according to a recent survey. The 42-year-old made her cancer diagnosis public two and a half weeks ago. The polling institute Yougov said 76 percent of those surveyed in the United Kingdom had a positive attitude towards the future queen. That is two points more than in the previous survey in February.

Kate replaced her husband Prince William (41) at the top, whose approval ratings fell from 77 to 73 percent. In addition, 21 percent now have a negative view of the heir to the throne, an increase of five points compared to February. 16 percent see Kate negatively, previously it was 15 percent.

Kensington Palace announced in mid-January that the princess, born Catherine Middleton, had undergone planned abdominal surgery and would be out for months. Despite this announcement, after some time speculation and conspiracy theories about Kate’s absence increased.

On March 22, the palace released a video in which the mother of three reported her cancer diagnosis and said that she was undergoing chemotherapy as a precaution. It is currently unknown when she will appear in public again.

Approval for the king is falling

Kate’s father-in-law, King Charles III, also has cancer. (75) is in fourth place with 63 percent approval – a minus of four points – behind his sister Princess Anne (73), who has 71 percent. His wife Queen Camilla (76), in sixth place, is viewed positively by exactly half of those surveyed.

Charles’ younger son Prince Harry (39) and his wife Duchess Meghan (42), who have left the royal family and are at loggerheads with their family, are only viewed positively by 31 and 26 percent of those surveyed, respectively. Last in the family ranking is Charles’ youngest brother Prince Andrew (64): 86 percent have a bad opinion of the scandal-ridden royal.

Basically, younger people in particular tend to have a negative attitude towards the Royal Family. Only a third (32 percent) of 18 to 24-year-olds think the monarchy is good, whereas among those over 65 the figure is almost 80 percent.
