Guido Maria Kretschmer: Another loss after the parents

Last year, “Shopping Queen” favorite Guido Maria Kretschmer lost his parents. Now he has to cope with the next loss.

Guido Maria Kretschmer (58) and his husband Frank Mutters (born 1955) mourn the loss of their beloved dog Idaya. “It’s breaking our hearts,” the designer confessed in an emotional Instagram post.

Idaya was only four years old

For the expert from the VOX show “Shopping Queen” it is the next stroke of fate after he had to say goodbye to his beloved parents forever last year. Father Erich died in August 2023 at the age of 87, his mother Marianne followed in December at the age of 84. In the NDR talk show “deep and clear” a few weeks ago, the designer revealed that it was a terrible time: “When my mother died, everything was gone. I was almost unable to drive back Going to Hamburg. I was more lost than ever in my entire life.”

Now the dog died unexpectedly. “On Monday we had to let our beloved Idaya go at just 4 years old,” Kretschmer commented on snapshots of the animal on April 10. “We are heartbroken and still reeling from this unexpected and tragic loss.” Doctors tried everything to “save our little mouse”. But unfortunately they wouldn’t have had a chance either. “Beloved Idaya, we miss you very much and will remain with you forever in deep love,” he wrote at the end.

The couple are avowed dog fans and have several four-legged friends. They already mourned the loss of their dog Aimée last year. With Alaiyha, Undine and Ivy they now have three Borzoi greyhounds.

Celebrities provide support

There were immediate condolences from Kretschmer’s prominent acquaintances. Moderator Frauke Ludowig (60) wrote. “Oh no, dear Guido, dear Frank, I feel that way for you.” Mareile Höppner (46) commented: “Dear ones; it’s so, so sad. I’m thinking of you.”

Comedienne Ilka Bessin (52) also spoke up and said: “That’s so sad. Just bad. I hug you.” Even CDU politician Julia Klöckner (51) took part in the tragedy: “I feel very much for you – dogs are family members!”
