Uschi Glas and more: Many stars at Fritz Wepper’s funeral

Family and companions said goodbye to Fritz Wepper for the last time on Wednesday. These celebrities also came to the funeral.

Sad Wednesday in Munich: Friends, family and companions said goodbye to Fritz Wepper (1941-2024) on April 10th. In addition to his widow Susanne Kellermann (49) and their daughter Filippa (12), there are also numerous celebrities at the funeral and memorial service of the cult actor, who died on March 25th at the age of 82.

Fritz Wepper found his final resting place in a beige coffin decorated with many flowers in the Herz Jesu Church in Munich-Neuhausen. The actor was buried next to his beloved brother Elmar Wepper (1944-2023), who died in October 2023 – just five months earlier.

“I will remember him fondly,” said actress Uschi Glas (80). “We filmed a lot together when we were young. We were ready for all sorts of little outrages. It was a deep friendship.”

The actresses Andrea Wildner (71) and Janina Hartwig (62) also attended the funeral service. Both played with Wepper in “For Heaven’s Sake” for years. “A great loss for all of us. I am grateful for the time I was able to spend with him,” said Hartwig to “Bild”.

For Bavaria’s Prime Minister Markus Söder (57, CSU), who knew Wepper for a long time and, among other things, presented him with the Bavarian Order of Merit in 2022, it was as if a “family member” had left: “I will miss him. He was a really great Bavarian.” From his perspective, Wepper could have made it big in Hollywood, but he chose “family and home,” said Söder. The politician also paid tribute to Wepper in the church with a speech in which he described him as a “beacon of light.”
