Lang Lang on the Walk of Fame: Star pianist receives Hollywood star

Immortalized forever: The internationally renowned pianist Lang Lang (41) was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday (April 10). The Chinese musician unveiled the 2,778 star on the famous sidewalk in Los Angeles. In his acceptance speech, he emphasized that this was a dream come true.

It is a great honor for him to now be immortalized alongside other greats of classical music such as Vladimir Horowitz and Arthur Rubinstein. In his opinion, music improves the world, says Lang Lang. He wants to share this gift with everyone and, above all, inspire young people to play an instrument. In his speech, he also remembered his beginnings on the piano at the age of two and his move from China to the USA at the age of 14.

Since he received his star in the “Live Performance” category, a sample of his skills couldn’t be missed at the ceremony. Lang Lang was accompanied to the star unveiling by his parents and his wife, the German-Korean pianist Gina Alice Redlinger (29).

Lang Lang first attracted great public attention during his appearance at the opening ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. He later appeared at the 2014 FIFA World Cup final. In the last ten years he has also played at the awarding of the Nobel Prize to Barack Obama (62), at the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II (1926 – 2022) and in front of Pope Francis (87) in the Vatican. He was also present at the coronation of King Charles (75) and Queen Camilla (76) with a concert at Windsor Castle. He released his last album “Saint-Saëns” in March 2024.

Since the 1960s, the Hollywood Walk of Fame has awarded stars to important artists in the categories of film, television, music, radio and theater.
