The new “Schlag den Star” presenter is named Matthias Opdenhövel. Elton’s changing of the guard will not happen without resistance.
The fact that Matthias Opdenhövel (53) will return to “Schlag den Star” and therefore replace Elton (53) as presenter is not well received by all fans of the format. In fact, critical voices are increasing in the comments section of the announcement post that Opdenhövel recently shared. Most users agree that they really appreciate Opdenhövel’s work and his style. In the case of the “Beat the Star” successor, however, they would have wanted him to show solidarity with Elton and cancel.
The first viewers want to boycott
“A collegial no would have been appropriate here,” says one user, summing up the opinion of many. Another Elton supporter even complains that it’s probably a new version of “Who’s Stealing the Show?” A statement that can also be found frequently and in varying degrees of severity: “I don’t watch the show anymore.”
It is equally important to mention that many people in the comments section are also happy about Opdenhövel’s return. Anger over the change in moderation should not be taken out on him, the 53-year-old is defended.
Elton ran the show for 13 years
Last Wednesday (April 10th) broadcaster ProSieben announced that Elton would be replaced as presenter of “Schlag den Star” after 13 years. Opdenhövel was then quoted as saying: “It’s an honor and a homecoming at the same time. I can’t wait to be back in my old living room after 13 years and I’m looking forward to all the prominent pairings and crazy games.”
Opdenhövel had already led through the second season of the show before Steven Gätjen (51) took over. Two seasons followed, in which Stefan Raab (57) himself took over the moderation – since season eight, the moderator has been called Elton. He was extremely disappointed by his deportation and asserted that he had not given up “this wonderful shipment voluntarily”.
