Ethel Kennedy: 96th birthday with her loved ones

Ethel Kennedy celebrated her 96th birthday in a big circle. Her grandson posted a photo showing her surrounded by her loved ones.

Ethel Kennedy, the widow of Robert F. Kennedy (1925-1968), celebrated her 96th birthday on April 11th – and apparently in a large circle. A photo published by her grandson Joe Kennedy III (43) shows the human rights activist surrounded by her loved ones. They’ve all almost piled up to surround Ethel Kennedy for the shot. “Happy 96th birthday to the greatest grandma in the world,” writes Joe Kennedy III.

Kind words and a song by Taylor Swift

Her daughter Kerry Kennedy (64) also came to wish Ethel a happy birthday. In a video montage to the sounds of Taylor Swift’s (34) song “Starlight”, Kennedy writes: “Today is my mother’s 96th birthday! To celebrate her, please listen to this great song that Taylor Swift wrote about mine parents wrote!”

Shortly after her husband’s assassination, human rights activist Ethel Kennedy founded the organization Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights to honor his legacy and work for a more peaceful world. “For more than half a century, my mother has advocated for justice and stood alongside human rights defenders around the world,” writes Kerry Kennedy. Her mother’s courage and commitment motivates the RFK Human Rights team every day. She concludes the touching post with the words: “Happy birthday to the best mother I could ever imagine!”
