Tom Hiddleston became internationally known primarily in the role of Loki. He doesn’t know if he will play the Marvel character again.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has had a strong influence on the life of Tom Hiddleston (43). The Brit has been playing the character Loki for many years, and in 2021 he even got his own series named after him. But even though Hiddleston became world-famous with this character, he doesn’t know whether he will take on the role again.
The actor is modest about the fact that Hiddleston has been portraying Loki for around 14 years now, according to US presenter Jimmy Kimmel (56). Asked if he expected to spend so long with the character, Hiddleston replied: “I had no idea, and every time someone says that, it kind of blows me away, because when I was cast in 2009, […] “I was 28, and now I’m 43, and that’s a big part of my adult life, playing this incredible character.” The role completely changed his life.
What’s next for Loki?
Kimmel asks whether Hiddleston is done with the character after the end of the second season of “Loki,” but the Brit doesn’t have a clear answer. “I don’t know. I really don’t know,” he admits. All he knows is “that with the second season we have reached a kind of narrative conclusion that feels very satisfying to me.”
If executive producer Kevin R. Wright has his way, Loki’s story may actually be over for now. He believes that Hiddleston approached his performance as a farewell, as he said last year. But Wright didn’t want to commit himself clearly either: “We wanted it to feel like a proper end to our series, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be more Loki or stories in this world. We just wanted to give it a twist give a fitting ending in a way we don’t often get to do in the MCU.”
