The Italian designer Roberto Cavalli, Susana Giménez’s favorite, died

lifeEl couturier Italian Roberto Cavalliwhose style made him the favorite of the ‘jet set’ internationally for decades, died at the age of 83, local media reported.

According to the Italian news agency Ansa, the fashion designer died at his home in Florence after a long illness.

Cavalli, founder of the eponymous brand, dressed personalities from all over the world with a style highlighted by excess, exotic elegance and prints.

The death occurred in his native Florence after an extensive period marked by his health problems.

At the time of his departure, Cavalli was accompanied by his partner of more than a decade, Miss Sweden 2006, Sandra Bergman Nilsonn, with whom he became a father for the sixth time exactly twelve months ago.

The designer enjoyed a more relaxed life than when his other five children were born: little Giorgio arrived in a period of calm.

During his first marriage to Silvanella Giannoni he had Tommaso and Cristiana. She remarried Eva Duringermother of Robert, Rachele and Daniele, and also a key person in her career.

His second wife, a Miss Universe finalist, was his right-hand woman for a long time and with her he lived through one of the most important times of the firm, which went on to become a true empire.

Marked by a history of overcoming and tragedy: his father was murdered when he was a child, as a student, Cavalli, born on November 15, 1940, had concentration problems and until he was 20 he stuttered. He graduated from the Florence Academy and debuted in the 70s, making it clear that he came to revolutionize fashion.

In a shop in Saint-Tropez he created a novel leather stamping process that quickly became famous, counting among his clients figures such as Mick Jagger or Brigitte Bardot.

The Italian designer was also one of the Argentine Diva’s favorites, Susana Gimenez. The “Su” wore the same designs that the couturier presented on the catwalks in Milan or Paris to grace local events such as Martín Fierro, the Caras magazine party or Mirtha Legrand’s table.
