“Let’s Dance” put on a special show and there was only one bonus point to be won – but that could be important next time. The winner was the oldest current participant.
Mark Keller won the bonus point for the 17th season with a paso doble on “Let’s Dance”. This means that the actor and his professional partner Kathrin Menzinger will start the next show with a small lead over the other participants. For the special competition of the RTL dance show on Friday evening, the previous dance couples were separated from each other and remixed.
Keller, at 58 years old the oldest current participant in “Let’s Dance”, won 25 jury points with his exchange partner Ekaterina Leonova – even though he started the season weakly. “I probably really need the bonus point in the next show,” said Keller on the RTL program “Exclusiv Spezial” after the competition.
Before the audience vote, only choreographer Detlef D was better! Soost and short-term partner Kathrin Menzinger. Motsi Mabuse praised dance coach Soost’s restraint during the Viennese waltz, which also allowed his partner to come to the fore at times.
Juror Joachim Llambi pointed out small step errors, but praised the effect the two had on the audience: “You were there, you stayed there.” The three-person jury gave them nine points each – the competition judges didn’t give more than these 27 points that evening. However, thanks to the audience vote, Keller passed Soost.
The previous model dancer Gabriel Kelly (22), who got full points from the jury in the last show, weakened. With his temporary partner Anastasia Stan he performed a slow fox and did not convince Llambi.
“He wasn’t my favorite today,” was the verdict of the strictest “Let’s Dance” juror. “We love Gabriel as a ray of sunshine, but you’re also scratching the facade,” said jury member Motsi Mabuse, referring to his temporary role as favorite and the resulting pressure. Kelly received only 23 jury points.
Nobody had to be eliminated in this special show – it was all about the bonus point, which will be added to the jury’s score in the next show. However, it became known who it would have hit: Lulu Lewe, sister of Sarah Connor and singer herself, with professional Alexandru Ionel.
She now has a second chance with her actual dance partner Massimo Sinató in the upcoming show on April 18th – at a Discofox marathon. However, two couples then have to be eliminated.
