Vincent Friell is dead. The actor was 64 years old. He was known, among other things, for a role in the cult film “Trainspotting”.

The Scottish actor Vincent Friell (1960-2024) is dead. The Glasgow-born Friell’s agent confirmed this, according to consistent British media reports.

Friell had his first TV and film roles in the 1980s. He first achieved greater fame alongside Joe Mullaney and the late US actor Ned Beatty (1937-2021) in the comedy “Restless Natives”, published in 1985. The film by director Michael Hoffman (67) was released in Germany under the title “The Tourist Trap” and also known as “Robin Hood’s foolhardy heirs”. Further – mostly smaller – roles followed until the 2010s, including an appearance as the father of the character Diane in the cult film “Trainspotting – New Heroes” from 1996.

Vincent Friell was a “funny, sensitive and caring person”

The actor also had roles in series such as the sitcoms “Rab C. Nesbitt” and “Still Game”. Ian Pattison (73), the brains behind “Rab C. Nesbitt”,: “His death is a big shock for his many friends and work colleagues. It becomes clear how much Vince not only as an actor, but also as a funny, sensitive and caring person was valued.”

Scottish actress Jane McCarry (53), who also appeared in “Still Game”, said: “I’m very sad to hear that Vincent has passed away. He was a lovely guy, very funny and a great actor.”
