Every day we have excuses to get together with friends, celebrate and enjoy the great gourmet pleasures among which are Argentine wines. Many celebrations are held with food involved, and that is when the famous word “pairing” or also called “gastronomic agreement” comes into play.
In this note, we offer options to taste the best Argentine and international food accompanied by a good Malbec.

The menu of this sophisticated Acassuso bistro captures the essence of French cuisine, adding distinctive signature touches. To provide a complete gourmet experience, they have a cellar where they store 311 national and international wines. The owners and chefs, Verónica Morello and Charly Forbes, are personally in charge of the curation, incorporating classic wineries and boutique producers from different regions. Currently, they offer between 40 and 50 Malbec labels from Jujuy, Salta Mendoza and Río Negro. All of them can be enjoyed by the bottle or by the glass. And what are the suggested pairings? Crispy sweetbreads with apples and pears spiced with sweet chilli, along with Marchiori & Barraud Malbec (Perdriel, Mendoza), a young wine, distinguished by its freshness, its medium structure and its great price-quality ratio; and the children wrapped in lamb with demi glace, brussels and spicy peanut candy, accompanied by Piedra Negra Gran Malbec (Los Chacayes, Mendoza), an intense, voluminous and elegant wine, aged in French oak barrels. To keep in mind, on April 17 they will offer a special five-course menu with wine pairings from the Vistalba winery.

In the heart of the Sofitel Recoleta, this elegant restaurant invites you to taste seasonal local dishes. When it comes to pairing, you can choose more than 25 Malbec labels from all regions of our country, from NOA, through Cuyo to extreme Patagonia. They also offer about eight wines by the glass, which rotate daily. Federico Nudelman, the hotel’s food and beverage manager, recommends trying the grilled sweetbreads with sautéed mushrooms, lemon potato cream and meat stock, with the Polígonos 2019 from Zuccardi (San Pablo, Mendoza), an intense and vibrant wine that will be able to “sweep away” the fat from the width. Another recommendation is the T-bone with Josper with mixed salad, triple-cooked potatoes, chimichurri and criolla (to share) in the company of the Yacuil Malbec wine from the Tacuil winery (Molinos, Salta) that presents complexity and structure as well as a spicy and herbal profile. which will combine very well with the smoky flavor of the meat.

The modern grill, hidden in the basement of the Mío Buenos Aires boutique hotel, reinvents typical dishes of traditional Argentine cuisine, with a focus on roasted meats and vegetables. To accompany it, they present a careful selection of wines, curated by somm Camila Lapido, which invites you to travel through different regions of the country. The menu features almost 50 labels, with 17 Malbec options and two that can be ordered by the glass. The most suggested pairings are the knife-smoked roast empanada (with onion, egg and greens) with the A Lisa Malbec from the Noemía winery (Valle Azul, Río Negro), with a natural elegance and smoothness achieved by a brief passage through barrels. used; and the 750 g eye of steak with chimi butter and garlic, accompanied by Eléctrico Malbec (Gualtallary, Mendoza), a wine with much more character, structure and volume, without aging in barrels, reflecting the characteristics of the terroir.

The menu includes 15 Malbec labels that are ideal to enjoy with their meat empanadas, braised meats and stews.
