The actor described the way he would like his character to say goodbye to the franchise.

Douglas has now made a new revelation in this regard: he asked to be removed from the MCU and his request went unanswered. Interestingly, he even described in quite graphic detail how he would like to be forcibly removed from the franchise. Douglas was appearing on The View, promoting his new historical series, Franklinstreaming on Apple TV+, when he made the comments.

“[Que me maten] It was actually my request for the third one. I said I would like to have one [muerte] serious, with all these fantastic special effects. There has to be some fantastic way I can shrink to the size of an ant and explode, whatever that is. I want to use all those effects. But that was in the last one. Now, I don’t think I’m going to show up. [para una cuarta]”.
What does Hank Pym’s future look like in the MCU?
Hank Pym overcame the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, but it looks like Michael Douglas isn’t exactly eager to dip his toe back into the MCU waters. Douglas has been the face of Hank Pym in all three Ant-Man films and even made a brief appearance in Avengers: Endgame. However, Marvel is staying tight-lipped about the future trajectory of the Ant-Man saga. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was intended to launch Phase Five of the MCU with a big bang, introducing a new Thanos-style adversary in Kang the Conqueror, played by the now-fired Jonathan Majors. Majors no longer works for Marvel after being accused and convicted of harassment.
Despite these lofty ambitions, the film did not pan out. Critics were not very impressed with Quantumania and audience interest dropped sharply after a strong opening weekend. Ultimately, the sequel struggled at the box office, closing its global earnings below the $500 million mark, a stark contrast to its predecessors and a blow to Marvel’s 2023 lineup, which also saw The Marvels stagger financially.
Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania Is available in Disney+along with all the other Ant-Man movies and the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
