A little history

The city of Tres Arroyos was officially inaugurated andl April 24, 1884. By then the first houses were already established, made of mud and straw, very far from each other but which would be the starting point of what is today a great city. At that time the municipality, which was inaugurated in 1885, was located in a large warehouse. There were three small forts that protected the town from the few malones that still remained: one was located at the confluence of three streams that give birth to Claromecó; another in the “Hispaniola” business house, a grocery store located 4 kilometers from the town, approximately 500 meters from the Claromecó stream and the last one in the vicinity of the cemetery. The first businesses and the establishment of rural posts gave the first economic boost to the town. But the change came in 1886 with the first train, from this moment on, the development of what today is a city with almost 63,000 inhabitants, on 586,000 hectares of which 3,517 are lagoons, basins and other water bodies that They add to the coastal dunes with more than 22,600 hectares.

To the center of the city are added 8 towns and localities: Cascallares, Copetonas, Orense, San Francisco de Bellocq, San Mayol, Villa Rodríguez and the best known Claromecó and Reta, both preferred by many tourists who come to enjoy these places every year. waters of the south of the Buenos Aires coast.

Surrounded by green and sea, the Tres Arroyos District borders Coronel Dorrego, Coronel Pringles, González Chaves and San Cayetano and is located just under 500 km from the City of Buenos Aires.

The current life

Tres Arroyos is a quiet city, which transmits its history through its buildings, monuments and historical sites. In the José A. Mulazzi Museum of Archaeology, History and Natural Sciences the passage of time is reflected, even before the arrival of the current settlers. In the Museum of Fine Arts, local, regional and national works of art are captured that demonstrate artistic and historical movements.

Green spaces abound in all its squares, but the main exponent of a forest reservoir stands out: the Ángel L. Cabañas Municipal Park. Here you can enjoy nature outdoors, with spaces for recreation and sports.

The residents of the city have a great sports hobby, which is why many different clubs and sports centers stand out, such as the Club Huracán stadium, Tres Arroyos Golf Club, Moto Club Tres Arroyos, Circuito de Ciclismo, Aero-Club Tres Arroyos and Club de Gliders, among others (in football, basketball, tennis, rugby, hockey and other sports).

It was the arrival of immigrants, who with their dreams of populating this land made it great. Each of the numerous communities that came looking for a better life still preserves their traditions and culture. In Tres Arroyos, the art and gastronomy of Danish, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, French, Basque, Bolivian and Mexican people combine, who over time forged their own identity, giving the city a unique landscape.

The walks through its rural towns, the beauty of the southern coast of the Province of Buenos Aires in Reta and Claromecó, the imposing monumental architecture of the city and an increasingly varied gastronomy make Tres Arroyos an option for those seeking to know the Buenos Aires life, get away from the daily noise and enjoy a few days that even now, in autumn, offer an experience that amazes at every step.
