Celine Dion has had difficult times. Despite her incurable illness, the singer is optimistic about the future.

Music star Céline Dion (56) has been struggling with her health for some time. In 2022, the Canadian made it public that she was suffering from the rare, incurable disease Stiff Person Syndrome and could not go on her planned tour. Dion has now given a health update.

Celine Dion feels “strong and positive”

The 56-year-old is the cover star of the magazine’s May issue. In the cover photo, , she poses in a skimpy miniskirt and an unbuttoned shirt, covering her breast with one hand. “She’s back!” says the caption.

“I’m honored to do a photo shoot for Vogue France. I’m very proud that at 55 I was asked to show off my beauty,” Dion, who turned 56 on March 30, is quoted as saying. “But what is beauty? Beauty is you, it is me, it is what is inside us, it is our dreams, it is today.” She looks to the future with hope: “Today I am a woman who feels strong and looks positively into the future. One day at a time.”

“One of the most difficult experiences” for Celine Dion

Since announcing her illness, which limits her ability to sing and run due to cramps, Céline Dion has largely withdrawn from the public eye. The singer last appeared at the Grammy Awards in February 2024, where she was accompanied by her eldest son René-Charles Angélil (23). On stage she handed over the award for “Album of the Year” to pop star Taylor Swift (34). In March, she attended a hockey game in Boston with her 13-year-old twin sons, Nelson and Eddy.

In March, to mark International Stiff Person Syndrome Awareness Day, Dion wrote: “Trying to overcome this autoimmune disease has been one of the most difficult experiences of my life, but I am determined to one day return to the stage and be a “To live as normal a life as possible.”

Documentary gives deeper insight

Céline Dion is expected to share even more details about her illness in a new documentary entitled “I Am: Celine Dion”, which will be available to watch on Prime Video from June 25th. The film provides a “genuine and honest behind-the-scenes look at the legendary superstar’s battle with a life-changing illness,” according to an announcement.
