Boris Becker seems happier than ever before: he walked the red carpet in love with his girlfriend Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro.
Former tennis star Boris Becker (56) and his partner Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro (33) presented themselves in love to journalists at the Laureus World Sports Awards. The two strolled the red carpet together in Madrid on Monday evening. Becker hugged his girlfriend lovingly and obviously could hardly keep his hands off her. Both beamed and smiled exuberantly for the cameras.
Boris Becker has been in a relationship with the Italian citizen since 2020, who was then working as a political risk analyst in Becker’s adopted home of London. After being released early in December 2022, Becker had to leave Great Britain. A little later he moved to Milan with Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro and has lived a rather withdrawn life there ever since. Becker had previously been in prison since April 2022 for misconduct in the course of his insolvency proceedings.
Becker also answered questions from several reporters in Madrid and spoke, among other things, about the ongoing rumors about a possible engagement as a coach for Alexander Zverev (27). He had already accompanied his career during his work as Head of Men’s Tennis for the German Tennis Association. “Between 2017 and 2020 I attended numerous tournaments either live or by telephone. So it wouldn’t be anything new for me,”
Will Boris Becker be Alexander Zverev’s coach next year?
This year, however, coaching work is not possible due to his numerous other commitments. In principle, however, he does not want to rule out working with the currently best German tennis player. “I know him really well and like him. I’m also very familiar with his family and we’re close friends,” said Becker. But the question for this year is not: “Maybe 2025 or 2026.”
Every year, athletes are honored for outstanding achievements at the Laureus World Sports Awards. This year, former Becker protégé Novak Djokovic (36), who Becker looked after from 2013 to 2016, won the men’s category. Spanish footballer Aitana Bonmati (26) from FC Barcelona was named Sportswoman of the Year. The team of the year is the Spanish women’s national football team, who won the World Cup last year.
