The US presenter’s son was born with a heart defect in April 2017. On the boy’s birthday, Kimmel is grateful and tells how his son has developed.
On his son Billy’s seventh birthday, US presenter Jimmy Kimmel thanked doctors and hospital staff who treated the heart-sick boy after his birth. “This boy is seven thanks to you,” the 56-year-old wrote alongside photos of his son on Instagram.
The talk show host and comedian, who also has a nine-year-old daughter with his wife Molly McNearney, reported to the industry portal “Entertainment Tonight” that Billy is doing “great” today. “He’s completely normal – I shouldn’t say he’s normal, he’s not a normal kid, he’s a weird kid, but his heart is fine,” Kimmel said, laughing. The presenter joked that his and Molly’s only concern for the boy today was his “a bit crazy” temperament.
After Billy’s birth in spring 2017, the multiple Oscar presenter said on his “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” show that his son had to undergo surgery immediately after his birth because of a congenital heart defect. Kimmel repeatedly demanded in the emotional monologue and later that parents of all income levels should have the right to good treatment for their children. For Billy’s seventh birthday, the presenter collected donations for the children’s hospital in Los Angeles where Billy was operated on.
