More titles for members of the British royal family – as well as other famous Brits. Princess Kate, for example, is now a Royal Companion. And star composer Andrew Lloyd-Webber is also among those honored.
The British King Charles III. (75) appointed his daughter-in-law Kate to the order of “Companions of Honor”. The award honors people who have made outstanding contributions to the fields of art, science, medicine and public service. The 42-year-old Princess of Wales, who, like Charles, recently revealed that she had cancer, will be accepted into the order as a Royal Companion, Buckingham Palace announced.
Heir to the throne Prince William (41) can now adorn himself with the designation “Great Master of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath” in addition to numerous other titles. Charles awarded his wife, Queen Camilla (76), the Grand Master and First or Principal Dame Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
Charles appointed four new members to Britain’s most important knightly order, the Order of the Garter or Order of the Garter. It now includes, among others, the wife of Charles’ youngest brother Prince Edward (60), Duchess Sophie (59), and musical legend Andrew Lloyd-Webber. According to the British news agency PA, the 76-year-old was deeply touched and spoke of “the greatest honor of my life.” Last year he composed a piece of music specifically for Charles’ coronation.
