Will Shogun have a second season?

Even though Shogun was an immediate success and also reached record viewership numbers upon its launch, just because all the conditions to secure a renewal are met doesn’t mean the series shouldn’t return for a season. And its ‘showrunners’ have made it that clear, Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo, speaking to The Hollywood Reporter. “We liked the ending of the book,” says Justin Mark, and given that the first season of Shôgun manages to adapt the entire novel and given the lack of more material, there are no plans to expand the story.

We took the story to the end of the book and put a period at the end. We love how the book ends; “It was one of the reasons we both knew we wanted to do it and we ended up in exactly that place.”

And although some fans maintain hope in a possible sequel outside the story that could turn the series into a kind of anthology, at the moment it is not on the agenda: “It’s like asking ourselves if we want a second child right after be the first. (Laughs) You know, this series was filmed a long time ago and arrives today after a long post-production phase. It is not just any series, in the sense that if we were in the promotion phase we would not be writing the sequel. , but we would already be filming season 2.”

So, We will have to be content with a single season of Shogun, whose 10 episodes are available on Star+.
