David Gilmour returns to music: the former Pink Floyd announces a new solo album

Gilmour’s fifth solo album will include nine songs in total, eight of them originals and the ninth will be a cover of “Between Two Points” by the Montgolfier brothers.

David Gilmourthe former singer and guitarist of pink floyd has announced his first album in nine years, “Lucky and Strange”and it’s giving everyone time to prepare since the release isn’t coming until September 6.

However, the first teaser is imminent: “The Piper’s Call” will be out on Thursday, followed by a music video on Friday. He also released a short teaser on YouTube featuring him and his dog in the studio during the mixing process.

Gilmour’s fifth solo album will include nine songs in total, eight of them originals and the ninth will be a cover of “Between Two Points” of the Montgolfier brothers. Musicians include bassists Guy Pratt and Tom Herbert; the drummers Adam Betts, Steve Gadd and Steve DiStanislao; Rob Gentry and Roger Eno on keyboards; and Will Gardner arranging strings and choral accompaniment. The album was reportedly recorded in Brighton and London over a period of five months.

Obviously, before these new recording sessions, we also know about the late Pink Floyd keyboardist, Richard Wright, even though he died in 2008 at age 65. The album includes a part he recorded in 2007 at a jam in the barn at Gilmour’s house.

The new David Gilmour: a family album

The lyrics have been mostly written by Gilmour’s wife, Polly Samson, as has been the case with Gilmour albums for decades, and the post-Roger Waters material that Pink Floyd made before retiring the moniker, Samson said in a statement that the songs are “written from the point of view of being older ; “Mortality is the constant.”

Other family members also contribute, Romany Gilmour he sings, plays the harp and is the lead vocal on “Between Two Points.” Gabriel Gilmour contributes to the choirs. Charlie Gilmour he wrote the lyrics to the album’s closing song, “Scattered.”
