Hollywood: Michael Keaton is said to play Batman in “Batgirl” film adaptation

Hollywood actor Michael Keaton played “Batman” back in the 90s. For the new “Batgirl” film with Leslie Grace he could now put on the bat costume again.

Hollywood star Michael Keaton (70), who caused a sensation under the direction of Tim Burton in “Batman” (1989) and “Batman’s Return” (1992), wants to play the hero in the bat costume again.

The industry portals “Deadline.com” and “Hollywood Reporter” reported on Wednesday that he would work alongside the young leading actress Leslie Grace in “Batgirl”. The 26-year-old singer and actress (“In the Heights”) linked the casting report on Twitter.

Grace was awarded the lead as Batgirl character Barbara Gordon in July. The superhero film is directed by the Belgian directing duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (“Bad Boys for Life”). Christina Hodson (“Bumblebee”, “Birds of Prey”) provides the script. Filming in London has already started.

The Batgirl character first appeared in comic books in the 1960s. The story of the fictional superhero revolves around Barbara Gordon, daughter of Commissioner James Gordon (JK Simmons), the Gotham City Police Chief. After numerous bat films, Batgirl is now receiving her first independent film.
