Emmanuel Macron laced up his football boots last Wednesday and successfully took part in a charity game.
Emmanuel Macron (46) didn’t miss the opportunity to support his wife Brigitte Macron (71) in a charity event. The president of the Pièces Jaunes Foundation, which campaigns for improved conditions for hospitalized children and young people, was able to convince her husband to attend a charity football match organized by the Variétés Club de France (VCF). Last Wednesday, France’s President appeared in Plaisir in the Yvelines department in a white jersey and with some football stars.
Victory with a penalty
In an Instagram post, Macron showed off his equipment, from socks to bananas, in preparation for the match. “We play this game for our children and young people in the hospital,” he wrote. After the game, he commented on a photo showing the teams with the donation check: “Two teams, but the same goal: to improve the everyday lives of children and young people in the hospital. Thanks to the players of the Variétés Club de France, who stand up for Pièces Jaunes. The game continues!”
According to “Le Parisien”, the charity game brought in a total of 57,500 euros for a good cause. The football stars Didier Drogba (46), Didier Deschamps (55) and Eden Hazard (33) were also on the pitch. Macron even scored a penalty, helping his team to a 5-3 win against a team of health workers.
