With the return of the Spider-Man characters from Sam Raimi in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and the return of Raimi himself with “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”rumors have once again circulated that he could have a bigger role in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But, according to the director, he currently has “no plans” for a future with Marvel. Still.
More recently, the title hanging around Raimi’s name has been “Avengers: Secret Wars”which will be released in May 2027. Fan speculation has increased that Raimi could direct the sequel to “Avengers”despite the fact that there is no confirmation of his possible participation.
What Sam Raimi said about working with Marvel again
Speaking with TheWrap portal on the red carpet of the new movie “Boy Kills World”which he produced, Raimi said he is not currently working on a Marvel project.
“I don’t have any plans,” he said of a return to Marvel. “But I would love it!”
Then, of course, there are the ever-present rumors and hopes of a fourth Raimi “Spider-Man” movie. There was even a plan for one, but in 2010, Sony Pictures, Raimi and Tobey Maguire They parted ways over creative differences and the studio instead rebooted the franchise with “The Amazing Spider-Man”starring Andrew Garfield.
Raimi has since largely quashed any rumors that he and Tobey Maguire are working to get their “Spider-Man” off the ground again. And, when asked by TheWrap about a hypothetical story for “Spider-Man 4,” the director noted that he hadn’t really thought about it.
“I haven’t done it because I would have to know what that character has to learn next.”Raimi explained. “I would have to talk to Tobey and the writers, and really figure out what his personal growth would be for this episode.”
That said, Raimi noted that whatever that personal growth is, it’s what would dictate the film’s villain. (At one point, it was going to be Kraven the Hunter, who will be the focus of a standalone Sony movie later this year.)
“I think if we were to make a fourth ‘Spider-Man’ movie, we would probably have to discover the journey that Tobey Maguire, his character, would take and what obstacles he had to overcome to achieve that growth personally. Raim said. “And I hope the villain is chosen based on a representation of that obstacle.”
Meanwhile, sony, Marvel and Tom Holland They are currently developing another “Spider-Man” movie, but nothing is confirmed on that front either.
