What OJ Simpson Really Died From: Lawyer Reveals Cause of Death

OJ Simpson passed away unexpectedly two weeks ago. His lawyer has now revealed the cause of death for the first time.

He was one of the most colorful figures in American football – until he was charged with a double murder. OJ Simpson died on April 10th at the age of 76. His lawyer has now confirmed the cause of death: Simpson succumbed to prostate cancer.

This is reported by “TMZ”, citing Simpson’s lawyer and estate executor Malcolm LaVergne. LaVergne confirmed to the gossip and news site that he had received the death certificate. This would confirm cancer as the cause of death.

Lawyer reveals OJ Simpson’s prostate cancer

Simpson first made it public last spring that he had cancer, but never revealed the specific form of cancer. In any case, he had tried to present himself to the public as indestructible. In his announcement he indicated that he had already beaten cancer, and in his last post on the short message service X in February he made fun of rumors that he was in hospice (you can find out more here). A short time later he was actually admitted to hospice care and only left so that he could die at home with his children.

LaVergne revealed last week that Simpson was suffering from prostate cancer. “A few years ago” he was diagnosed with the aggressive form of cancer, but actually initially beat it, the lawyer told the “Las Vegas Review Journal”. But then the cancer returned.

OJ Simpson: Controversial star

OJ Simpson was a renowned football player and actor (“The Naked Gun”) before becoming the main character in one of the greatest legal dramas in US history. After the brutal murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her lover Ronald Goldman, Simpson was considered the prime suspect and fled from the police. The spectacular car chase was broadcast live on television. The court case in which he was ultimately acquitted due to a controversial jury decision was also the subject of widespread media coverage. A civil court ultimately found him responsible for the deaths. The compensation payment never reached the victims’ families. LaVergne recently confirmed that he would ensure that they received “not a cent” of the payment, which had grown to almost $100 million with interest (you can find out more here).
