Actress Collien Ulmen-Fernandes says she was a nerd girl in her youth. She struggled with boys and love. Today that has changed.
Actress Collien Ulmen-Fernandes (42) says she had a hard time scoring points with boys as a teenager. “I wasn’t cool, and I wasn’t particularly dressed because I didn’t know anything about fashion or brands. I was the nerd girl that people weren’t interested in,” said Ulmen-Fernandes (“The Dream Ship”) in an interview the “Berliner Morgenpost”
However, that changed when she celebrated success on television. “Many in my industry know that people who previously turned their backs on you suddenly want to make contact.” The same thing happened to her husband, the actor Christian Ulmen (48). When she was around 17, she “completely chased after a guy (…)” who, however, showed no interest in her. “When I hosted Bravo TV when I was 19, he suddenly texted me constantly asking if I didn’t want to meet him. But I didn’t feel like it.”
When asked how she realized that a man was interested in her and not in her celebrity status, Ulmen-Fernandes replied: “It was difficult. Of course everyone said ‘I mean you’, but as a public person you can never know for sure.” Things were different with her husband because he was also in the public eye. “And when that applies to both, you know that that’s not why the other person is interested in you.”
