The 52-year-old’s current film is about an unusual animal friendship. In his private life, he also has a heart for four-legged friends.
In his current film “Arthur the Great”, Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg (52) plays an extreme athlete who befriends a dog from the street. In real life, the actor advocates for the adoption of four-legged friends. “Many dogs and pets around the world need a home,” Wahlberg told the German Press Agency in London. In the USA he is now drawing attention to the issue in a commercial.
In his private life, Wahlberg leads by example. “Originally I didn’t want to have a dog because I already have four children and we have a lot to do. Now we have four dogs and we’re thinking about getting another one,” said the actor, musician and entrepreneur, “because that’s what they bring a lot of joy and love in our house, even if they are sometimes wild, quarrelsome and disruptive. Nothing brings so much joy.”
Wahlberg doesn’t let an allergy to animal hair dampen his enthusiasm for his animal friends. “I’m allergic to almost everything, trees, bushes and everything else,” reported the 52-year-old, who says he takes anti-allergic medication every day. “In dogs, the allergy is easier for me to tolerate. It also depends on whether it is a dog with long or short hair.”
The film star is unlikely to get a cat in the long term. But that wasn’t because of his allergy or because he might have something against cats, he assured. “Cats don’t like me,” Wahlberg said. “That’s the problem.”
