Prince Harry’s next visit home is imminent – but without his wife Meghan. He will be traveling with her shortly after his trip to London.
When Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry turned their backs on Great Britain, it was not yet clear to what extent the two would occasionally travel back to the island. In Prince Harry’s case, it quickly became clear that he would definitely return from time to time. But Meghan has so far only been present at a few important events – such as the celebrations marking Queen Elizabeth’s death.
Prince Harry travels to London without Meghan
On May 8th the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry, will take place in London. The celebrations will be held at St Paul’s Cathedral in the heart of London. As representatives of the Sussexes have now confirmed, Meghan will not travel to London alongside her husband and accompany him to the event. No other member of the royal family is expected there yet. It is Prince Harry’s first trip home since his sister-in-law, Princess Kate, made her cancer diagnosis public. The Duke of Sussex most recently traveled to London in February for a half-hour meeting with his father, King Charles III.

But although Meghan will miss the celebrations in the English capital, she is celebrating the Invictus Games elsewhere. Because shortly after Harry’s trip to Great Britain, the two of them will set off for Africa, more precisely to Nigeria. They accepted the invitation of a military official from the Nigeria Defense Staff. As in London, the Invictus Games should also be the focus in the African country. “The visit is to consolidate Nigeria’s strong position at the Games and explore the possibility of hosting the event in future years,” Brigadier General Tukur Vusau said, according to People.
Trip to Nigeria together
Nigeria (as well as Colombia and Israel) took part in the Invictus Games for the first time in September last year. Harry introduced the new participants himself in Düsseldorf. “We are very happy that new nations are joining us. Applause for Colombia, Israel and Nigeria,” he said. “I don’t want to say we’re playing favorites at home, but since my wife found out she’s of Nigerian descent, things are probably going to be a little more exciting this year,” the prince joked at the time.
