Kürsat “Chico” Yildirim: Why 25,000 euros a month (sometimes) isn’t enough

Chico shouldn’t have any financial worries after winning the lottery – you think. In a documentary, Kürsat Yildirim alias Chico explained how he and his girlfriend spend their money.

He is probably the best-known lottery winner: Kürsat Yildirim, alias Chico, won 9.9 million euros in 2022. So money problems should be a thing of the past for him, one would think. But towards the end of some months, Chico and his girlfriend Candice Newgas actually notice that money is getting tighter. In the Sat.1 documentary “People talk about money,” the two give an insight into their financial situation.

Lottery millionaire Chico shows his bank statement

They have 24,200 euros available per month, made up of his money and her – slightly smaller financial contribution – from her main job and work as an influencer. When it comes to rent, the two live extremely frugally for their circumstances. The millionaire currently has no place of his own, but lives with his parents and his girlfriend. So the two of them have to fork out 750 euros for rent. However, things look different with Chico’s fleet. Because the luxury sleighs want to be paid for – and insured. This amounts to 6,153 euros per year. In order to be able to wash them as often as necessary, Chico pays 600 euros a year for a washing flat rate.

Private health insurance (1437 euros) also has an impact. A big financial item for Chico is the lottery. Because although he has already demonstrated happiness, he wants to continue to challenge it. And so the costs for playing the lottery come to just over 1,700 euros.

He has to step up

There are also costs such as cell phone contracts, electricity, internet and pension plans. In total, the millionaire and his partner have fixed costs of 12,535 euros per month. That leaves just under 13,000 euros that the two of them can freely use. But even then, money sometimes becomes tight, as Chico and Candice explain in the documentary. The reason is their leisure hobbies. The two spent more than 3,000 euros on Christmas presents alone. There are also sauna sessions, restaurant visits (just under 400 euros) and clothes shopping (just under 4,000 euros).

If a holiday is added to the mix, things get tight. Then, as the documentary shows, Chico reaches into his pocket again and adds more. In the documentary, the lottery millionaire throws 7,000 euros into the family coffers. This makes a trip to Switzerland possible. One can only hope for Chico that playing the lottery regularly might pay off again.
