Hollywood icon: Barbra Streisand: Weight loss comment meant as a compliment

It was intended as a nice comment, but a remark from Barbra Streisand about Melissa McCarthy’s looks backfired. But the actress defends the singer.

Hollywood icon Barbra Streisand (82) received a lot of criticism with a comment about the appearance of actress Melissa McCarthy (53). But now the singer explains how her question to McCarthy, “Have you used Ozempic?” was meant.

Ozempic is a medication that is taken, among other things, to lose weight. Curvy “Brides Alert” actress McCarthy posted a photo of herself alongside director Adam Shankman on Instagram, wearing a pastel green elegant dress. Streisand commented on the photo asking about the weight loss remedy, but her comment was later deleted. Numerous Instagram users criticized her comment.

Streisand made a statement in an Instagram story. She saw the photo of her friend McCarthy and wanted to compliment her. “She looked amazing,” Streisand continued. She simply didn’t think about the fact that the public would read along. The singer also emphasized that McCarthy had contributed to her album “Encore”. They sang the song “Anything You Can Do” together in 2016.

Comedian McCarthy (“Taffe Mädels”, “The Boss”) apparently takes the matter with humor. “Barbra is a sweetheart and I love her,” said the actress when asked by a photographer from the portal “TMZ.com” whether Streisand had gone too far.
