Meryl Streep will be awarded the Palm of Honor at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
The Cannes Film Festival starts with a highlight: Meryl Streep (74) will receive the Palm of Honor on the opening evening of the 77th edition of the film festival. The film festival takes place from May 14th to May 25th this year.
It will be the Hollywood star’s first appearance in Cannes in decades. Her last visit to the film festival was in 1989, when she was awarded best actress for Fred Schepisi’s (84) “A Cry in the Dark” around 35 years ago.
George Lucas and Kevin Costner are also expected
Streep is far from the only Hollywood star set to visit Cannes this year. George Lucas (79), who will be honored with a palm of honor at the closing ceremony, is also expected. Francis Ford Coppola’s (85) “Megalopolis” and Paul Schrader’s (77) “Oh, Canada” are also in the competition. Kevin Costner (69) is also promoting his latest work, the western saga “Horizon”, at the festival.
