New TV job for Ilse DeLange? The Dutchwoman dreams of being a coach on “The Voice” in Germany.
Ilse DeLange (46) dreams of “one day being a coach on ‘The Voice’ in Germany.” The country and pop singer was already on the fourth and fifth seasons of “The Voice of Holland” in 2013 and 2014. In 2020 she took part in “Sing my Song” and two years later sat alongside Dieter Bohlen (70) on the jury for “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”. “I love the German respect for art and Germany is a beautiful country that I would like to see a lot more of,” reveals the Dutch-born artist in an interview with the news agency spot on news.
Happiness does not depend on chart success
DeLange recently returned from the country metropolis of Nashville, Tennessee. “We wrote songs in Nashville, Berlin and Amsterdam.” Their new album “Tainted”, which will be released on May 3rd, was recorded in Berlin. Can your new work build on the success of its predecessor “Changes”? The album, released in 2020, stormed the top 15 in Germany. “I hope so, of course, but I’ve been here long enough that I don’t make my happiness dependent on chart success. But that doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t be happy if things go well.”
DeLange has been a star in her home country for many years. With her participation in the ESC in 2014, she also became known beyond the Netherlands. With her band The Common Linnets and the song “Calm After The Storm” she reached second place at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen. “The ESC has brought about an immense change. This applies to everyone who was involved in this song. I know that it is one of the reasons that I can now travel to Germany so often, which I love. He has gave me the opportunity to have the international career I dreamed of.”
On tour through Germany in November
DeLange is looking forward to her upcoming live concerts with great anticipation. The singer will play at open airs and festivals in the summer, do a big theater tour in the Netherlands and a club tour through Germany. “I can’t wait to go on tour with the new album in Germany in November. I love playing concerts! The energy of the audience, the way the songs develop on stage, being together with “My band and the crew and the feeling that you’re actively working to get your music heard feels so good,” enthuses the 46-year-old.
And DeLange will also be seen more frequently on German and Austrian television in the next few weeks. “Including ‘ZDF-Morgenmagazin’, ‘Kölner Treff’ and ‘Starnacht’. I’m really looking forward to that.” And maybe soon also on “The Voice”. Finally, after the departure of Giovanni Zarrella, Ronan Keating and the Kaulitz twins, some swivel chairs became available…
