Carey Mulligan and her husband Marcus Mumford met as children. Their youthful pen friendship ultimately turned into great love.
In 2012, Hollywood star Carey Mulligan (38) married her current husband Marcus Mumford (37). What few people know: The two stars knew each other as children. The actress now shared this fun fact about her relationship with the frontman of the band Mumford and Sons. She was there via video call to talk about her charity work for the War Child organization.
When asked by presenters Richard Madeley (67) and Kate Garraway (56), Mulligan said that she met Marcus on vacation as a child. Afterwards they wrote each other letters to stay in touch: “We went to the same summer camp as children and then became pen pals. That’s how we stayed in touch, we didn’t have cell phones!” Other technology that was modern at the time was also used: “We used to fax a bit when fax machines were still cool! We have to get the children to make pen pals again. That’s a good thing.”

At some point, however, the pen pal relationship fell asleep. “We had no contact for about ten years before we got back together,” Mulligan told the “GMB” hosts.
